[En] [Penghu · Attractions] Chongguang Mazu Statue: Standing Tall at 48 Meters Above the Blue Sea

When traveling in Penghu, it is impossible to miss this towering figure on the horizon. Located along the Chongguang coastline, the Chongguang Mazu Statue stands 48 meters tall, making it the tallest bronze statue of the goddess Mazu in the world. As I rode my scooter into the park and stood beneath this massive figure crafted from over a thousand bronze plates, the sense of scale and serenity was truly breathtaking.

📍 1. A Spiritual Landmark Facing the Azure Horizon

The location of the statue is perfectly chosen, with Mazu facing the sea as if she is protecting the ships passing by. The open space around the park makes the statue appear even more majestic. During my visit, the weather was flawless—the bronze surface shimmered with a warm metallic glow under the sun, creating a stunning contrast with the vibrant "Penghu Blue" sky. The atmosphere was incredibly quiet and dignified.

📍 2. Honest Review: The Intricate Beauty of Bronze Craftsmanship

Up close, the detail of the carvings on the base and the robes is what impressed me the most. The base features swirling waves and cloud patterns, giving the metal a heavy, textured feel. Looking up from behind, the flowing lines of her cloak were captured so realistically that it felt like they were moving with the sea breeze. This combination of cleanliness and immense scale has truly established this as a new visual center for Penghu.

📍 3. A Moment of Serenity by the Sea

Walking through the park and feeling the sea breeze while looking up at the goddess was a therapeutic experience. You don't need many words here; it is best just to quietly enjoy the "dialogue" between the statue and the ocean. Compared to the busy streets of Magong City, the Chongguang area offers a unique stillness. This is the kind of travel vibe "Ryobiyori" loves most—finding the power of inner peace in a simple itinerary.

💡 Ryobiyori’s Travel Notes

Photography Tips: Use a wide-angle lens and shoot from a low angle looking up to capture the full, imposing presence of the statue.

Sun and Wind Protection: The park has very little shade. The sun and sea breeze in Penghu can be quite intense, so I recommend visiting in the early morning or late afternoon for a more comfortable experience.

Nearby Exploration: Since it is not far from downtown Magong, it is a perfect spot to visit on your way back from a round-island tour. Watching the sunset light change the colors on the bronze statue is a luxury.
