However, just a few minutes' walk away on Xinsheng North Road, there is a completely different world—He Xue Coffee (禾雪咖啡). It’s a place where the noise of the market fades away, replaced by the aroma of fresh beans and a quiet, soulful atmosphere.

He Xue Coffee is housed in a beautifully renovated Japanese-style old building. It retains the original stone floors and high wooden beams, creating a minimalist yet warm aesthetic. The true star of the shop is the resident cat—a cool, elegant companion who roams freely through the soft shadows and light.



Time seems to slow down here. Watching the cat nap while listening to the gentle Japanese background music is the ultimate remedy for a busy week. It’s a rare spot of tranquility in the heart of the city.

This is easily one of the best Basque cheesecakes I’ve had recently. It has a rich, creamy center that melts in your mouth.
