[EN] Kyoto | WAYFARER Kyoto Shijo Review: Spacious Apartment Style Hotel
In March 2023, during my trip to Kyoto, I stayed at WAYFARER Kyoto Shijo. It is a modern apartment-style hotel that perfectly blends Western comfort with traditional Kyoto aesthetics.
📍 1. Location: A 10-Minute Walk for True Peace
While it’s not "right next to the station," I found the walk quite pleasant for a few reasons:
Silence: Once you step into the alley, you are away from the noisy tourist crowds. Shrine View: Directly across from the hotel is a small, serene shrine. Waking up to that peaceful atmosphere is a true Kyoto experience. Bus Access: There are several bus stops nearby that take you directly to Kyoto Station or Gion, making transit easier than the subway sometimes.
📍 2. Room Design: Exceptional Space in Kyoto
The rooms are incredibly spacious. Our room featured an elevated wooden platform with comfortable futons, which makes the space feel open and airy. The large wooden table is the highlight—perfect for enjoying snacks from Nishiki Market or planning your next day’s itinerary together.
📍 3. Amenities & Practicality
Looking out from the large window, you can see the charming rooftops of Kyoto. The room comes equipped with a safe, storage racks, and everything you need for a comfortable stay without feeling cluttered.
💡 Ryobiyori’s Travel Notes
Who is it for? Highly recommended for families, groups of friends, or travelers who value space and quietness over being right on top of a train station. Honest Pro/Con: The distance is the only "downside," but the extra space and peaceful environment are 100% worth it.
